Back From Holidays

... actually we've been back for almost a week, but it has taken me a while to get back to the blogging thing. Holiday highlights from Jimmy's Beach, Hawk's Nest, NSW ...

1. Seeing my whole family 'fall in love' with each other again and enjoy each other so much.
2. Spending time with Ruth and relaxing together.
3. Seeing my two older boys sneak away all through the day to read the first book of the Lord of the Rings together.
4. Reading through most of Julius Caesar with Ruth and my older boys taking parts. I got to be Marcus Brutus! My boys fought over who could be Antony. No-one really wanted to be Caesar.
5. Going to the beach almost every day.
6. Kayaking at Jimmy's beach.
7. Looking through the bookshelves in the holiday house we rented through the real estate agent and seeing about fifty copies of 'The Briefing'!!!!
8. Playing two french games - french cricket and boulles
9. Waking up at ridiculous-o'clock most mornings to get time to read the wonderful book of Proverbs and pray for my family (I got through 12 chapters in the original).
10. Having a friend, Meagan, join us for a day.
11. Writing a couple of Sola Panel articles.
12. Staying in a house with less stuff.
13. Getting and giving lots of hugs!
14. The kids not watching many DVDs.
15. Being disconnected from the internet world.

and so much more.

Sounds like a fantastic holiday Andrew. I guess the snagging a shark comes under the 'so much more' category. :)

that all sounds awesome mate. Glad you had a good break. Good on you for getting up early too- you've inspired me to continue my early morning routine when we go away after Christmas.

Hi Mark. Yeah, David and I caught a 4 foot Port Jackson Shark on the beach outside our house! Up to catching the shark, David though I could do anything. After catching it, I think I can do anything!

Hi Ben. Have a great break with big "E" and little "e". Spend time refreshing yourself in God's word as well. ;) I miss you guys.

Hey Andrew, How did they go with Lord of the Rings 1? I started on it too early as a kid and it was too difficult and that put me off it for later in high school. So I have been holding Hannah off it for now... but you have challenged that idea.

I was chatting to Andrew's boys this morning about Lord of the Rings. Sounds like they are loving it.

Any pictures of the 4-foot shark? That's bigger than David!

Hi Dominic. I'm glad you're back from holidays. J. read them when he was very young and really got into them. N to read the first page and struggled to finish it. It worked out pretty well on holidays with J. reading it to N. I think your Hannah would have no problems at all.

Hi Ben. Yeah they do love it. J. even sings all the poetry to N! I've been looking for the Silmarillion to give him for Christmas.

Hi Mark. I may have got my measuring wrong. The Shark could reach from D.'s feet to his neck. Probably 3 or 3 1/2 foot. I'll put up some photos - but they don't give it justice. In our minds it was 6 foot.
